Privacy policy

Ironbound Kingdom is a single-player game for iPhone, iPad and Android published by Kawi Software AS (organisation number 933 580 873, Fredrik Meltzers gate 13B, 5007 Bergen, Norway). Kawi Software AS is the controller for the processing described here. Contact us at petter@kawisoftware.com.

This policy covers Ironbound Kingdom version 1.0.0, which is free and has no ads, no in-app purchases, no account, no cloud backup and no play statistics.

At a glance

  • No account and no sign-up. Your progress is saved on your device.
  • We do not collect personal data through the game in version 1.0.0. The game sends no identifier, no progress and no play statistics to us or to anyone else.
  • No ads, no advertising identifier, no tracking across apps, no analytics or crash-reporting SDK. We do not sell data.
  • The year of birth you may give at the start stays on your device and only decides which settings the game uses.
  • Reminders are local notifications planned on your phone, only if you switch them on.

What stays on your device

Your progress (including the hero name and look you choose), your settings, your answer to the age question, and random identifiers the game makes for itself (for example the Player ID shown in Settings) are stored in the game’s own storage on your device. We cannot see them. Deleting the game deletes them. Your device’s own backup (Android backup to your Google account, or an iCloud or computer backup of your iPhone or iPad) may keep a copy according to your device settings; that backup is a service of Google or Apple, and we cannot access it.

The age question

When you start a new game, the game asks for your year of birth, or you can choose “Prefer not to say”. The answer stays on your device and is never sent. It only decides what the game shows: for example, players under 18 or who prefer not to say get no notification question at the end of the first day, and younger players get the most protective settings.

What the game downloads

The game needs no internet connection to play. When a connection is available it makes two kinds of requests, and neither contains an identifier or anything about you or your progress:

  • Game settings. From time to time the game downloads a small settings file (for example season dates or balance values) from Google’s Firebase Hosting.
  • A clock check. On start, when you come back to the game and every 30 minutes, the game asks kawisoftware.com (hosted by Netlify), or if that fails Apple’s or Google’s store servers, for the current time, so that offline progress and daily resets cannot be skipped by changing the phone’s clock. Only the time in the answer is used.

As with any internet request, the server that answers sees your IP address and basic technical information (such as the app’s engine version and your operating system) in order to reply. We do not add anything to these requests, and we do not store or use this information. Google and Netlify process it under their own terms and may process it outside the European Economic Area.

Notifications

Reminders (for example when your crops are ready or the helpers’ bags are full) are local notifications scheduled on your phone. There is no server and no push token. The game asks your permission only after you agree inside the game, never at start-up. You get at most one a day, never between 21:00 and 09:00. Turn them off in Settings > Notifications or in your phone’s settings.

Ratings

After certain milestones the game may ask your phone to show the App Store or Google Play rating dialog. Apple and Google decide whether it appears; we receive nothing from it except the public ratings and reviews in the stores.

Crash reports and the stores

The game contains no crash-reporting or analytics SDK. If you have chosen in your device settings to share diagnostics with app developers, Apple or Google may give us crash reports and aggregated statistics (for example installs and crashes) under their own privacy policies. Apple and Google also process data when you download the game from their stores; see their privacy policies.

Contacting support

If you email us, for example with Settings > Help > Contact support, we receive your email address and what you write. That mail’s subject contains your Player ID, the game version and your platform so we can help you; you can remove it before sending. We use your message only to answer you. Please do not send passwords or sensitive information.

Downloading game settings and the clock check are part of providing the game you asked for (Article 6(1)(b)). Answering support emails is based on our legitimate interest in helping players (Article 6(1)(f)).

How long we keep data

  • Version 1.0.0 stores no player data on our servers.
  • Data on your device stays until you delete the game, subject to your device backups.
  • Support emails are kept only as long as needed to handle your request and to meet legal obligations.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may ask for access to, correction or deletion of your personal data, restriction of processing, or a copy of your data, and you may object to processing. Write to petter@kawisoftware.com; we answer within one month. You may also complain to your data protection authority; in Norway that is Datatilsynet.

Deleting your data

  • On your device: delete the game. This removes your progress, settings and the game’s identifiers. Copies in your device’s own backup follow your backup settings.
  • On our side: version 1.0.0 keeps no player data on our servers, so there is nothing else to delete. For support emails or any other request, write to petter@kawisoftware.com with the subject “Ironbound Kingdom data deletion”; we answer within one month.

Children

Ironbound Kingdom is intended for players aged 13 and over. Version 1.0.0 collects no personal data from anyone, of any age. If a younger player gives their year of birth, the game switches to its most protective settings. A parent can remove all of the game’s data by deleting the game, and can contact us at any time.

Permissions

On Android the game uses internet access (game settings and the clock check), vibration, and the notification permission, which it asks for only after you agree in the game; to keep reminders working after a restart it may start when the phone boots and briefly keep the phone awake to show a reminder. Android also lists a billing permission and a network-state permission added by Google’s purchase library; version 1.0.0 offers no purchases and does not use them. On iPhone and iPad the game asks only for permission to send notifications. The game does not use your camera, microphone, location, contacts, photos or files.

These pages are hosted by Netlify and load fonts from Google Fonts; both receive your IP address to deliver the pages. The Ironbound Kingdom pages use no cookies and no analytics.

Changes

We will update this policy before our data practices change. A later version is planned to add optional purchases, an optional cloud backup and optional play statistics; this page will describe them before that version is released, and the game will ask for your consent where the law requires it. The date at the top identifies this version.
