Privacy policy
Coin Tides is a coin pusher game for iPhone, iPad, Mac and Android published by KAWI Software AS, Norway. KAWI Software AS is the controller responsible for the processing described here. Contact us at petter@kawisoftware.com.
This policy covers the current version of Coin Tides, which has no ads and no in-app purchases.
At a glance
- No sign-up. The game works offline and saves your progress on your device.
- When cloud save is enabled and you are online, the game backs up progress with Google Firebase under a guest account ID. We do not ask for your name, email address or a password.
- Gameplay statistics are only sent if you choose to share them. You can turn them off at any time in Menu → Privacy.
- No advertising identifier, no third-party analytics or advertising SDK, and we do not sell your data.
- You can pause cloud saving, transfer progress and delete the current cloud account and its data in the game.
Playing and saving progress
You do not need to create an account, and the whole game can be played offline. Your progress (for example goals, prizes, upgrades and your balance of virtual coins), the exact state of each machine, your settings and your statistics choice are saved locally on your device, together with an installation identifier made of random characters and the time of installation. Coins, tickets and prizes have no real-world value.
Deleting the app on iPhone, iPad or Android normally removes its local data; offloading it or keeping a device backup can retain a copy. On Mac, removing the app can leave saved progress and settings in its application data. Contact support if you need help removing those local files. Your device's own backup may keep a copy according to your device settings.
Cloud save
When cloud save is enabled and your device is online, the game attempts to back up progress. Local play continues if a backup cannot finish, and the cloud screen reports its status. The game creates a guest account with Google Firebase Authentication: a generated ID with no name, email address or password. “Guest” does not mean the data is unlinked; saved progress is associated with that account ID. The game stores one cloud save for that account in Google Cloud Firestore. The cloud save contains your game progress, your virtual coin balances and recent coin history, the saved machines, any expedition in progress, the installation identifiers of the devices that played, the app version and timestamps. Menu → Cloud save and data shows when your progress was last saved to the cloud.
Menu → Privacy shows a short Player ID derived from your cloud account or installation identifier. The cloud screen also includes a support link with the current account ID. You can include it when you contact us so we can find your data.
Menu → Cloud save and data → Keep this device local pauses automatic cloud saving and sending optional play data. You can continue playing and saving locally. Turn that switch off to resume. If you previously deleted the cloud account, resuming can create a new guest account. Pausing alone does not delete stored cloud data or revoke your play-data choice; turn off Share play data to stop its collection too. This version does not enable Google Play Games or Game Center sign-in.
Moving progress to another device
In Cloud save and data, Get a transfer code creates a private 12-character code containing a copy of your saved progress, your guest account ID and its creation time. The game and the cloud service restrict access to a code's copied progress to seven days from its creation. Anyone who knows the code and signs into the game's guest cloud service can retrieve that copied progress, so keep it private. Codes can be used more than once during their validity period; they are not a sign-in method or an account password.
The receiving device shows a preview and asks for confirmation before importing. Collection progress and balances are combined, valid transferred machines are applied, and earlier local machines are kept as temporary backups for seven days. This does not link or delete the other device's account. Finish or leave an active expedition before importing progress or restoring a machine. Creating or importing a code needs an internet connection.
Optional gameplay statistics
The game keeps its own simple event log, and only with your consent. It asks at the start of your second session at the earliest (“Help us tune the machines?”), with two equal choices: Allow and No thanks. If you close the question without answering, it asks once more in a later session and then not again. Before you answer, and if you decline, nothing is recorded, not even on your device. You can change your choice at any time in Menu → Privacy → “Share play data”. Turning it off stops collection and deletes statistics that are still waiting on your device; statistics already sent are kept as described under How long we keep data unless you ask us to delete them. We use statistics to balance the machines and the economy for all players, to improve features and to find technical problems.
If you allow statistics, events may include:
- Sessions (start, end, length and session number), tutorial steps, screens, menus and pop-ups opened, settings you change (for example sound, graphics or language), aims you cancel and taps that missed a button.
- Halls, goals, missions, prize sets, relics, special coins, upgrades and expeditions, including the choices you made and the results.
- Virtual coin balances, refills and rewards, and how coins and prizes fall on the machine.
- Graphics level, performance measurements, save and sync errors, and whether you viewed a replay or shared an image.
- The time of each event, a session identifier, the hall and game mode, the app version, the version of the game settings in use, whether the app is a test build, the operating system, device model, language and region setting, and a country code taken from that setting (not from your location).
Statistics are pseudonymous and linked to your guest cloud account ID. When statistics are sent, the game also updates a short player record for that ID: first and last seen, number of sessions, counts of goals, sets and other progress, app version, operating system, device model, language and region setting, graphics level, the version of the game settings in use and the version of the consent text you accepted. This makes the statistics pseudonymous rather than anonymous in the legal sense: they could be associated with the same player. Statistics do not include your name, email address, contacts, photos, precise location or advertising identifier, and the game contains no third-party analytics or advertising SDK. We do not use statistics for advertising, and we do not sell them.
Events are queued on your device while you are offline and sent in batches over HTTPS when you are online, sharing is on and cloud save is not paused.
Crash reports. The game contains no crash-reporting SDK. If you have chosen in your device settings to share diagnostics, Google (through Google Play Console) and Apple may give us crash reports and technical statistics under their own privacy policies.
Game settings and news
At start-up and from time to time, the game downloads game settings and news as plain files from Firebase Hosting. These requests do not include your account ID or installation identifier.
Processing, service providers and location
Google provides Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore and Firebase Hosting and processes this data on our behalf as our data processor. Cloud saves, player records and statistics are stored in Firestore's nam5 multi-region in the United States. Firebase Authentication and Firebase Hosting are global Google services, and their data may also be processed in the United States. Google's Firebase privacy information describes its processing locations, transfer arrangements and applicable service terms. Contact us if you need information about safeguards for a transfer of your data. As with any internet service, Google receives your IP address and technical connection information when the app connects. We do not add IP addresses to the game data we store. Your game can read its own cloud save and player record. Anyone who knows a transfer code and signs into the guest cloud service can read that code's copied save during its validity period. The game's authorized administrators can access stored data to operate the service and handle support and deletion requests.
How long we keep data
Cloud saves, guest accounts and optional play-data records can remain after you stop playing or remove an installation. You can delete the current account and its data in the game, or contact us about records from an earlier installation. Pausing cloud save or switching off Share play data does not remove information already stored online.
- Local data stays on the device until you remove it, subject to device backups and platform behavior.
- Transferred saves and earlier-machine backups are temporary. The game accepts transfer codes for seven days and offers earlier local machines for seven days; code validity is separate from deletion of its server copy.
- Support email is kept only as long as needed to handle your request and meet legal obligations.
Legal basis
Cloud saving is part of the game you use and is processed to provide it to you (GDPR Article 6(1)(b)). To the extent they are not strictly necessary for that, we rely on our legitimate interest in keeping your progress safe across devices (Article 6(1)(f)); you can pause cloud saving or delete the current cloud account in the game, or contact us about data from another installation. Gameplay statistics are based on your consent (Article 6(1)(a)), which you can withdraw in Menu → Privacy. Game settings and news are downloaded to run the game. Support messages are processed to answer your request.
Support
If you email us, we receive your email address and the information you choose to send. We use it to respond to your request. Do not include passwords or sensitive information.
Your rights
Depending on applicable law, you may request access to, correction or deletion of your personal data, restriction of processing or a copy of your data, and you may object to processing. You can withdraw consent to statistics at any time without affecting earlier processing. Because there is no player account with your name, we may need your Player ID to locate your data. We will answer within one month. You may also complain to your local data protection authority, including Datatilsynet in Norway.
Request deletion of your data
In the game: open Menu → Cloud save and data → Delete my cloud data and confirm. This deletes the current guest account, its cloud save, player record, transfer codes and optional play-data records. An internet connection is required. The app confirms completion or reports a failure so you can retry. Your local game remains on this device; cloud saving and play-data sharing are switched off after successful deletion. This cannot be undone. Deleting the current account does not delete data under an older installation or another device's separate account.
By email: email petter@kawisoftware.com with the subject “Coin Tides data deletion”. Include the Player ID from Menu → Privacy if you can. Tell us as well if you have played on several devices or reinstalled the game, so we can find data stored under an earlier account ID. We will delete the data we can associate with you within one month and confirm by email. We may keep the correspondence needed to document the request.
On your device: use your operating system to remove the app and its local data, subject to the platform and backup behavior described above. Turning off “Share play data” deletes statistics that have not yet been sent. On Android, pictures exported to Pictures/Coin Tides remain until you delete them separately. Pictures saved on iPhone, iPad and Mac stay within the game's local data.
Children
Coin Tides is made for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not ask for age or date of birth, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has used the game, email us and we will delete the data.
Permissions
The game uses internet access for its online features and vibration on Android. It does not ask for access to your camera, microphone, contacts, location or photo library. Pictures of big moments come from the game itself. On supported Android devices, sharing exports the picture to Pictures/Coin Tides and passes it to the app you choose in the system share sheet. That exported picture remains after uninstalling the game until you delete it separately.
On iPhone and iPad, this version saves the picture within the game's local data; it does not open a system share sheet or add the picture to your photo library. On Mac, the game saves the picture in its local data and opens its folder in Finder. If Android sharing is unavailable or fails, the game also keeps a local picture instead. Coin Tides does not upload these pictures to our cloud service.
Changes
We will update this page when our data practices change, for example if a later version adds ads, in-app purchases, Play Games or Game Center, and we will ask for your consent again where required. This policy covers Coin Tides; external websites and services have their own policies.
